Sifu Long

Izaak Govert has studied martial arts for 16 years. His martial arts career started as a student of Aikido, Ninjitsu and Tai Chi. He found Chinese Wushu in 1994 with 8th-degree black belt and Master Jerry Cook along with Beijing Wushu team all-star Master Jinheng Li and Sifu Joseph Eager. He took his first local tournament Grand Championship after three months with these masters, followed by countless more including two Gold medals at the U.S. regionals in Berkeley, CA. Coach Long is a specialist in the rare styles of Drunken Fist, Drunken Sword, Drunken Staff and Di Tang Chuan. He is fully trained in the traditional Shaolin and Wutang styles of Hung Family 5 Animal, Tam Tui Shaolin Longfist, Ba Gwa, the 18 traditional weapons, and many more traditional and contemporary forms.

Sifu Long has also received training from Wushu Masters Jiang Bang Jun, He Jing De and Zhang Hong Mei as well as spiritual masters such as His Holiness the 14 Dalai Lama, Sakya Dagmo, Penor Rinpoche and Lama Namkha Govert of The Blue Sun Lotus Temple. He is also trained in the performing arts of Wushu. He was one of the founding members of the independent demo team The Jade Moon Immortals as well as the 1999 Arizona Wushu Team under the instruction of Master Jinheng Li. There he learned the disciplines of lion dance, dragon dance, Wushu demonstration pieces and fighting sets.

He is a 2nd-degree Black belt accredited by Master Cook, Master Li, representatives of the Shaolin and Wutang temples, The Kajukenbo Association as well as various local Wushu masters. As a founding member of the Jade Moon Society, Purity of Action Association, Black Belt Secret Society, and co-owner of Jade Moon Wushu Academy, Sifu Long is one of our most valuable assets.

's martial arts life started in 1989 when he attended one semester at the Young Olympians (Now Young Champions) earning the rank of yellow after just 3 months. He then discontinued his training until 1993 when he started a two-year training session with Sensei Robert Corrella in the art of Iiado (Japanese Swordsmanship). It was in the spring of 1995 that Coach Robert began his Wushu training with World Martial Arts under the skillful eyes of Sifu Joe Eagar, Sifu Jerry Cook, and Sifu Li, Jin Heng. In 1997 Coach Robert began his training with Dynamic Martial Arts and Sifu Kenny Perez, while continued to train with his other three Sifus and their respective schools; Black Belt Secret Society, Eagar's Wushu Academy, and World Martial Arts.

Coach Robert has also received instruction from some of China’s best teachers and performers including: Master Wu-Bin, Jiang Bang Jun, He Jing De, Shi Dong Xing, Zhong Hong Mei, and Shao Chang Jun.

Coach Robert specializes in Monkey Fist and Monkey Staff, as well as having a highly comprehensive knowledge of basics, Longfist, straight sword, Di Tang, dragon dance, lion dance and all other forms of Wushu. He has performed in over 1000 demonstrations including Asia Week, Chinese New Year, Moon Festival, Martin Luther King Jr. Parade, Fiesta Bowl Parade, Aerial Drumming in San Antonio, and other cultural events statewide performing for governors, mayors, councilmen, and international dignitaries.

Coach Robert Franklin has also received spiritual training from Daikakuji Buddhist temple in 1995 and Blue Sun Lotus Buddhist temple to present. He is a senior student and disciple of Roshi/Lama John Dennis Govert. He has received several teachings and empowerments from many high level teachers and continues to set a wonderful example for all of his students.

Timeline - Coach Robert

1995: Coach Robert co-founded Jade Moon Society.

1997-2006: Coach Robert captained the Dynamic Martial Arts (DMA) demonstration team, organizing and choreographing performances of dragon dance, Wushu, stunt-fighting, and lion dance. He also helped in implementing training courses for new students and recruiting new performers.

1999: Coach Robert served on the first Arizona Wushu team under the direction of World Martial Arts and Sifu Li, Jin Heng.

2000: Coach Robert took a gold medal in Open Empty Hand with Monkey Staff at Arizona’s National Wushu Championship.

2001: Coach Robert took two Silver medals, in Advanced Open Hand with Monkey Fist and Advanced Open Weapons with Monkey Staff at the Regional Berkeley Wushu Championship.

2000-2002: Coach Robert - with the help of Sifu Long - founded the independent demonstration team known as the Jade Moon Immortals.

2003: Coach Robert received his black belt from Sifu Jerry Cook of the Black Belt Secret Society.

2004: Coach Robert served as President of the independent Arizona Wushu Team, leading the team to regional competition in Berkeley, CA.

2004: Coach Robert assisted in teaching and performing on Wu-Bin’s North American Tour with Young Champions in Michigan, Kansas, and Colorado.

2005: Coach Robert received his second black belt from Sifu Li, Jin Heng.

2005-2006: Coach Robert took the position of head coach, organizing and choreographing performances for the Golden Dragons Wushu demonstration team.

2006 to present: Coach Robert and Sifu Long founded the Jade Moon Wushu Academy in December of 2006.

2007: Coach Robert co-founded the Purity of Action Association.
